Why Phi Chi?

About

Phi Chi means the world to me! Although I’ve only been a part of this fraternity for about six months, the knowledge I've gained from my studies has been invaluable, and I feel so guided in my academic journey. The support from my brothers has been invaluable; just a few hours ago, I felt comfortable enough to reach out to our current president with a question about one of my classes, and I truly believe I wouldn’t find that kind of assistance anywhere else. But what truly sets Phi Chi apart is the amazing community we have. Every time I stop to say hi, I feel genuinely included and welcomed, regardless of how close we are. It's a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes me grateful to be part of something so special. The connections I've formed here are not just about academics but also about building lifelong friendships. I love being part of Phi Chi, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us!

As a sophomore struggling to navigate the pre-med path at Michigan, I rushed Phi Chi to help with the professional side of things- figuring out classes, MCAT prep, and finding research opportunities. Not only has Phi Chi exceeded my expectations professionally, but I have met my best friends and made my favorite college memories through this organization. From bance to big/little to formals, I can truly say I have found my people here. Serving as co-rush chair and watching our fantastic new members grow throughout the year has only amplified my love for this organization. Phi Chi is such a special group of people and has transformed my college experience in the best possible way. For anyone struggling to find a supportive, tight-knight pre-med community at Michigan, Phi Chi is for you!

I remember when I first learned about Phi Chi. It was during my first festifall, the Diag filled with clubs and chaos. Walking through the Diag with Abby Rubin, I vividly recall Finn and Devesh coming up to us and telling us to rush Phi Chi. I had no idea what a pre-medical fraternity was or that they even existed, but I decided to listen and take a chance rushing. That choice was one of the best choices I have made. Phi Chi has given me a community - forever friends, who truly support me. As the only student from my high school to attend the University of Michigan, I was nervous about finding my community, and I am so grateful for Phi Chi. Whenever I am with my brothers, whether it's tabling, attending social events, eating a lot, or at chapter meetings, I know I will feel right at home. The people truly make the place, and yes, all the professional opportunities are fantastic (I have received so much valuable advice on questions I wouldn't even think of, finding mentors, and even professional opportunities). Still, it's the people who truly make the place. Go Phi Chi and Go Blue!

When I first got to Michigan, I knew no one. I was just an out of state kid from Jersey and immediately felt small in the immense student population we have here. On top of it, my classes had, in most cases, close to 400 students where it seemed almost impossible to find my footing, make meaningful connections, and stay on the right track to become a physician. I rushed phi chi my second semester at Michigan and my only regret is that I was one semester late. Through phi chi I have met my roommates, made lifelong friends, and found a community that celebrates me for who I am and makes me feel like a much bigger individual in this large school. Academically, phi chi has provided me with access to indispensable opportunities ranging from schedule and MCAT planning to clinical and volunteer experiences that I am so glad to pass on to any new pre-meds who come our way. I truly mean it when I say phi chi has changed my life!
